Community building.

After extensive consultations with people like you the Neighbourhood Plans for Burke Mountain was approved by Coquitlam City Council. The Foothills is what Wesbild named their lands at Burke Mountain.

Wesbild has taken direction from the Community plan to carefully prepare the community with particular attention to the environmental aspects, like protection of watercourses and sensitivity to the flora and fauna of the region.

A mix of townhomes and single family homes with both larger and smaller lots will give new owners here a good choice of housing price ranges.

Many of the existing large lot homes will be retained although some will choose to redevelop.

There will eventually be five new elementary schools and two new middle schools with a community centre. Also slated are new community parks, environmentally protected park areas as well as a new permanent & staffed fire hall to serve Northeast Coquitlam.

Since the community is set in trails and a beautiful natural environment your back yard is also the mountain itself. We also see street fronting townhouses that help form friendly walkable front streets with a welcome return of pedestrian friendly sidewalks, with many streets facing the trees of the greenbelt.

The new homes will be near existing Leigh Elementary School. A new High School with playing fields and community park space is part of the plan. A lively and welcoming collection of shops is planned to be located centrally at Coast Meridian and David Ave.

The planned Village Centre will be a coming together place that brings shops and services into the heart of this new community. Perhaps a relaxing café, a green grocery and who knows maybe even a local bakery. The planning for this is now underway and the Village Centre promises to be a very special environment.

The entrance to Burke Mountain will be by the new David Ave bridge and direct connection to David Ave in Coquitlam & Port Moody.
